Papua60detik — The security and public order (kamtibmas) situation in the Kapiraya and Wakia Village areas, West Central Mimika District, is gradually recovering following the conflict.
For a 12-hour period, from Friday (March 27, 2026) to Saturday (March 28, 2026) morning, officers from the West Mimika Police ensured that conditions in the area remained under control without any major incidents.
The Head of Public Relations for the Mimika Police, First Inspector Hempy Ona, stated that this stability was due to the intensive security and routine patrols conducted at several vulnerable points.
“Joint personnel are on standby at strategic locations such as the KM 4 Kapiraya Security Post and the Wakia Village area. They are actively conducting field patrols, monitoring traffic flow, and supervising community activities on main routes,” he said.
Security was also strengthened through dialogue patrols, monitoring of the KM 4 to KM 9 route in Mogodagi Village, and regular rotation of duty squads to maintain continuity of supervision in the field.
“All activities proceeded smoothly without interruption, reflecting the increasingly conducive situation in the area,” he said.
West Mimika Police Chief, who serves as Controlling Officer (Padal) 1, First Inspector Muhamad Yani, emphasized that this secure situation is the result of the preparedness of the officers and the full support of the community.
“We will continue to maintain this situation by increasing patrols and surveillance, so that the community can carry out their activities with a sense of security,” Yani stated.
The National Police also urged the public to continue playing an active role in protecting their respective environments and to immediately report any potential security disturbances.
