The Speaker of the Papuan House of Representatives, Denny Henry Bonai, made this statement during a working meeting discussing the RPJMD with the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov) in Jayapura City, Papua, on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Denny emphasized that the RPJMD is a strategic document that will guide regional development for the next five years, so its preparation must truly consider the real needs of the community.

“The RPJMD being discussed must be in the interests of the community, align with the vision and mission of the regional head, and comply with statutory provisions,” he said.

According to Denny, this working meeting provides an opportunity for the Papuan House of Representatives (DPRD) and the regional government to provide objective and responsible input so that the RPJMD document can be refined before being enacted as a regional regulation.

“The discussion is also crucial for delving into the priority programs formulated by each regional apparatus organization (OPD), so that development can be targeted and have a real impact,” he said.

Denny emphasized the importance of the presence of all OPD heads in the discussion. “We ask that all OPD heads attend in person and follow this discussion seriously. This concerns the future of Papua’s development,” he said.

Denny hopes that through a comprehensive discussion process, the Draft Regional Regulation on the 2025–2029 Papua RPJMD can be quickly enacted and serve as a guideline for effective development oriented toward community welfare.
