Jayapura — The Governor of Papua has called on all elements of society to continue maintaining and strengthening interfaith harmony as a fundamental foundation for creating a safe, peaceful, and harmonious Papua.
The appeal was conveyed by the Governor during a gathering with religious and community leaders held in Jayapura recently. He emphasized that the diversity of religions and cultures in Papua is a valuable asset that must be preserved together, not a source of division.
According to the Governor, tolerance and mutual respect among religious communities have long been part of daily life in Papua. Therefore, these values must continue to be upheld amid social dynamics and ongoing development challenges.
“Interfaith harmony is the key to creating stability and peace in Papua. By maintaining unity, we can jointly build a more advanced and prosperous Papua,” the Governor stated.
The Governor also encouraged religious leaders to play an active role in educating their congregations to prioritize mutual respect, avoid provocation, and maintain a conducive environment within their respective communities.
Through togetherness and a shared commitment to preserving interfaith harmony, the Governor expressed optimism that Papua will continue to be a land of peace, harmony, and strong brotherhood amid diversity.
