Jayapura– Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri has called for the 2027 Additional Infrastructure Fund (Dana Tambahan Infrastruktur/DTI) to prioritize development projects that improve regional connectivity and expand economic opportunities for communities, particularly in areas where access remains limited.
Fakhiri emphasized that infrastructure development should be planned according to regional needs to ensure that allocated funds deliver tangible benefits to the public. Adequate transportation links and connectivity are considered essential to supporting local economic activities and facilitating the distribution of agricultural and plantation products to commercial centers.
Under the agreed allocation framework for DTI 2027, 65 percent of the funds will be allocated to the provincial government, while the remaining 35 percent will be distributed to regency and municipal governments. The arrangement is expected to support development initiatives based on the responsibilities and specific needs of each region.
Fakhiri explained that the allocation for each region would take several indicators into account, including the number of Indigenous Papuans. By considering local conditions and regional characteristics, the government expects infrastructure funding to be more effectively targeted and contribute to more equitable development.
He also stressed the importance of accountability among regional administrations in managing public funds, from planning through implementation. Development programs should be aligned with community needs to ensure that their benefits can be felt directly by local residents.
Through the effective utilization of DTI 2027, the Papua Provincial Government hopes infrastructure development will not only improve regional connectivity but also provide better access to commercial centers, strengthen local economic activity, and promote more equitable prosperity throughout Papua.
