“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the Peace Cartenz Task Force and local police officers for their presence and prompt response in maintaining security, particularly during the evacuation of the hostage. The swift response of security personnel provides a sense of safety to the community and demonstrates their commitment to protecting civilians from acts of violence and crime,” Rafael said.
According to Rafael, security and evacuation efforts involving members of the public who become victims of crime should continue to be carried out professionally, proportionately, and in accordance with applicable laws. He also expressed hope that all individuals involved in the criminal act would be promptly arrested and held accountable under the law.
In addition to appreciating the efforts of security personnel, Rafael urged the people of Papua, particularly residents of Mimika Regency, to remain calm and not be easily provoked by issues or information whose sources and accuracy have not been verified.
“I urge all people in Papua, particularly the people of Mimika Regency, not to be easily provoked by information whose truth has not been established. Let us be wise in receiving, assessing, and sharing information. We must not give room to information that could create public anxiety and disrupt security in the community,” he said.
