JAYAPURA, Papua – Papuan Youth Leader, Marco Buefar, appreciated the implementation of the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation in maintaining security in Papua. He assessed that the security efforts carried out by the apparatus can provide a sense of security for the community, especially in areas that are still facing potential security disturbances.
The statement was delivered by Marco Buefar in Abepura, Jayapura City, Wednesday (8/26/2026). According to him, the creation of security and peace in Papua is not only the responsibility of the apparatus, but also requires the involvement of all elements of the community.
“I really appreciate the presence of the Cartenz Peace Operation Police Task Force in maintaining security in Papua. We fully support the implementation of this operation because the presence of personnel in the community can provide a sense of security and comfort, especially for residents who are in areas prone to security disruption,” said Marco.
Marco assessed that communication and interaction between security forces and the community is also important in supporting the creation of a conducive situation. According to him, an open communication space can help people convey various issues as well as provide information about the security conditions in their environment.
He emphasized that efforts to maintain security cannot only be charged to the apparatus. Traditional figures, community figures, female figures, youth figures, and the younger generation have a role in maintaining social relations and preventing conflicts in their respective environments.
“I invite all elements of the community, traditional figures, youth figures, female figures, especially the young generation of Papua, to join hands to protect our home together, namely the Land of Papua. Let’s keep peace and keep Papua away from all forms of violence and armed conflict,” he said.
Marco specifically invited the young generation of Papua to take a positive role in maintaining unity. He asked young people not to be easily affected by information that has not been verified and can make relations between communities worse.
“Young people must be part of the solution by maintaining unity, putting forward dialogue, and not easily provoked by information that can trigger conflict,” he said.
According to Marco, a safe environment will provide more space for people to carry out daily activities, including social and economic activities. Therefore, maintaining security and peace is considered an important part of supporting development and improving the welfare of the Papuan people.
He hopes that the collaboration between the community and the security forces can continue to be strengthened through open communication and mutual respect. With the involvement of various community elements, Marco is optimistic that Papua can continue to move towards safer, more peaceful, and prosperous conditions.
