Intan Jaya – The Government of Intan Jaya Regency together with the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2026 ensured that the object that previously went viral on social media and was narrated as a bomb or mine at the Kingmi Jemaat Sion Jaindapa Klasis Nabia Church, Kampung Sugapa Lama, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, was not an explosive or a mine.
The certainty was obtained after coordination, field verification, and direct checking by the elements of the Intan Jaya Regional Government with security officers regarding the information circulating in the community.
Previously, a video showing suspicious objects in the church environment circulated widely on social media and raised various speculations in the community. Responding to this matter, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force immediately took coordination steps with the Intan Jaya Regency Government to ensure the correctness of the information as well as prevent the emergence of public unrest.
In the initial meeting with the Regional Government, Deputy Regent of Intan Jaya Elias Igapa, S.E., Thursday (4/6), conveyed the commitment of the local government to conduct direct checks and provide accurate information to the community.
The results of the field verification were then conveyed in follow-up coordination involving elements of the Regional Government, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force, and the TNI Task Force. Based on the results of the inspection, the object that was suspected of being a bomb or mine was confirmed to be part of the contents of the church bell that came off and fell.
The representative of the Intan Jaya Regency Government, Yohakim Mujiaju, who also checked the location directly, emphasized that the information about the presence of bombs or mines in the church was not true.
“The results of checking at the location show that the object that had gone viral and suspected of being a bomb or mine is part of the contents of the church bell. Therefore, the public is expected not to be easily affected by information that has not been verified,” he said.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations 2026, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that every information that has the potential to cause public unrest must be carefully verified before it is concluded as a security threat.
“We put forward the principle of caution in every handling of information that develops in the community. After coordinating and verifying with the Regional Government and related elements, it was confirmed that the object circulating in the video was not a bomb or a mine. We urge the public not to be easily provoked by information that has not been confirmed,” said Inspector General of Police. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani
According to him, the spread of information that has not been verified can trigger public unrest and has the potential to be used by certain parties to create an unconducive situation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of synergy between security officers, local governments, community leaders, and the media in maintaining security stability in Papua.
“We appreciate the quick step of the Intan Jaya Regency Government which immediately checked the field so that the real facts could be immediately known by the community. Collaboration like this is very important to prevent the development of incorrect information and keep the kamtibmas situation safe and conducive,” said Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga
The Intan Jaya Regency Government also plans to deliver official clarifications to the public through public communication channels so that the correct information can be widely accepted and avoid the emergence of further speculation.
The Cartenz 2026 Peace Operations Task Force ensures that it will continue to monitor the development of the situation and coordinate with all stakeholders to anticipate the spread of provocative or misleading information.
The public is urged to always verify every information received through official sources and not easily spread information that is not yet known to be true, so that the stability of public security and order in Intan Jaya Regency can continue to be maintained.
