Timika – Support for the implementation of the 2026 Carstensz Peace Operation continues to flow from various elements of society in Papua. One example comes from religious leaders in Mimika Regency, who believe the persuasive, dialogical, and humanist approach employed by the authorities has provided a sense of security and strengthened the spirit of brotherhood within the community (May 10, 2026).
GMS Timika Pastor, Iwan Sumandak, expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the Carstensz Peace Operation officers, who continue to maintain the security and peace of the Papuan people by prioritizing humanitarian values.
In his testimony, he noted that the officers’ presence is not only focused on law enforcement but also conveys a message of care, love, and unity to the community.
“Amo longo, nima wetimi, saipah. On this occasion, we express our highest appreciation to the Carstensz Peace Operation, which continues to work with courage, sacrifice, and heart in maintaining peace and protecting the community,” said Iwan Sumandak.
He also emphasized that the public can feel the humanist approach in every task carried out by officers in the field.
“We see that there is always a message of peace, concern, and love for others in every step taken,” he continued.
In addition to expressing his appreciation, Iwan Sumandak also called on all communities and religious communities in Papua, especially in Timika City, to continue maintaining unity, tolerance, and social harmony to create a safe and peaceful situation.
“Let us continue to join hands and remain a light for our beloved land and city, Papua and Timika City,” he said.
The implementation of the Carstensz Peace Operation 2026 continues to prioritize a humanist approach through active communication with community leaders, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and all elements of the community. This step was taken as part of efforts to create conducive security stability and strengthen public trust in the importance of maintaining peace together in Papua.
The support from religious leaders is expected to provide positive energy for the entire community to work together to reject violence, maintain harmony, and build a safe, peaceful, and brotherly Papua.
