Dogiyai – Efforts to maintain security stability in the midst of the dynamic relationship between the community and the Police continue to be strengthened in Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua. The arrival of the Police from the Profession and Security Division of the National Police Headquarters is not only carrying out supervisory duties, but also aims to help the community through a humanistic approach. Together with the ranks of the Kamuu Police, they built intensive communication with community and indigenous figures to prevent potential conflicts and strengthen public trust.
The meeting that took place in the jurisdiction of the Kamuu Police Station presented a number of local figures, including Derek Waine as an intellectual figure, Alex Waine as a youth figure, as well as the village heads, namely Yulianus Boby (Ikebo), Marthen Tebai (Dikiyowa), and Ipo Gane (Ekemanida). The presence of these figures is an important part in bridging the aspirations of the community with the Police.
The Secretary of the Provos Divpropam Polri Bureau, Chief Commissioner of Police Prianto Teguh Nugroho, S.I.K., M.H., CPM., CPLA., emphasized that open communication is the key to creating a safe and conducive situation. He emphasized that the presence of the Police is not only focused on law enforcement, but also present to help the community through a humanistic approach and building a relationship of mutual trust.
“We want to make sure that every problem that arises can be solved through good communication, so that it does not develop into a kamtibmas disturbance,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Prianto Teguh Nugroho, S.I.K., M.H., CPM., CPLA.

In the context of Papua, traditional figures and society become important elements in dampening the potential for social conflict.
On the other hand, Dogiyai youth figure, Alex Waine, assessed that communication between the community and the police still needs to be strengthened. He hopes that there will be wider access for the public to be involved in the problem-solving process, including as a mediator in the field.
According to Alex Waine, a number of previous events show that there is still a communication distance that has the potential to trigger misunderstandings. He gave an example of the situation when the body was found which had triggered tension between the youth and the police.
“Efforts to calm the situation have been carried out, but limited coordination and the presence of certain parties that make the situation worse become a challenge in itself,” he said.
Responding to this, Chief Commissioner of Police Prianto Teguh Nugroho, S.I.K., M.H., CPM., CPLA., emphasized the Polri’s commitment to continue to open a wider and more inclusive dialogue space. He again emphasized that the humanist approach will continue to be put forward, in line with efforts to increase the professionalism of members in the field in helping the community.
“A humanist and professional approach is the key to maintaining public trust in the National Police,” he said.
Through more intensive and collaborative communication, the Police and the community are expected to build synergy in maintaining regional security. By putting forward a humanist approach, the presence of the Police from the National Police Headquarters Division is expected to be truly felt as an effort to help the community while maintaining stability and preventing wider conflicts.
