PANIAI – Ahead of the 2026 Easter celebration, the spirit of maintaining peace and togetherness continues to be echoed by traditional leaders in Central Papua. One of them is the Moni Tribal Chief in Paniai Regency, Ayub Kobogau, who called on all members of the community to jointly maintain public security and order so the situation remains safe and conducive.
Ayub emphasized that peace is a shared responsibility of all elements of society, especially in welcoming a major religious holiday that holds deep spiritual meaning for Christians.
According to him, community activities in Bibida District are currently running normally. Residents continue to carry out their social and economic activities as usual without any significant disturbances.
“People here have a strong commitment to live in harmony and not get involved in actions that could trigger conflict or mass unrest,” Ayub said in a written statement on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).
As a mountainous area that often serves as a transit route for people traveling from various regions, Bibida District remains a shared focus in maintaining security stability. Nevertheless, Ayub assured that based on monitoring by the local customary community, there have been no suspicious activities that could disturb the peace of residents.
He added that traditional leaders and local residents continue to maintain communication and remind one another to keep the environment safe and peaceful.
“We want to provide a sense of calm for residents who are preparing to celebrate Easter. So far, the situation in Bibida remains safe and conducive,” he said.
Ayub, who is known as an influential traditional figure in the East Paniai area, also reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting efforts to create a peaceful atmosphere through a family-based approach and dialogue within the community.
He further stated that religious celebrations should serve as a moment to strengthen brotherhood and encourage younger generations to avoid provocations that could disrupt social harmony.
Through persuasive appeals, traditional leaders hope that the community will continue to uphold the values of togetherness and tolerance.
“Peace is an important foundation that allows people to carry out their activities calmly and supports development in Central Papua,” Ayub concluded.
