Jayapura – Papua peace observer Max Johan Dwemanser strongly condemned a series of violent incidents occurring in several mountainous regions of Papua, stating that such acts have disrupted security stability and public order.
According to Max, actions carried out by groups opposing the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia have created anxiety within communities and negatively affected social activities as well as public services.
“The incidents taking place in the highland areas are deeply concerning. We strongly condemn all forms of violence that harm civilians and hinder development,” Max said in a statement in Jayapura on Monday.
He identified several areas affected by security disturbances, including Boven Digoel Regency, the Korowai region, Yahukimo Regency, and Puncak Jaya Regency.
Max also expressed full support for the measures taken by security forces, particularly the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force, in enforcing the law against perpetrators in accordance with applicable regulations.
“We fully support security authorities in taking firm and measured action to uphold the law and protect the community,” he stated.
He further conveyed appreciation to law enforcement personnel who continue to safeguard security conditions in Papua, especially in the mountainous regions, ensuring that community activities can proceed safely and in a conducive environment.
Max called on all elements of society to work together to maintain unity and not be easily provoked by issues that could potentially create division.
“Peace is a shared responsibility. Let us safeguard Papua so it remains safe and conducive for a better future,” he said.
