Jayapura — Papuan youth leader Doni Donatus Gobai has expressed his appreciation for the presence of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, which he believes has contributed to maintaining security stability while also fostering a greater sense of safety among communities across Papua.
According to Doni, conditions in several areas of Papua have recently become more conducive. Daily activities are gradually returning to normal, local economic life is beginning to recover, and social interactions within communities are growing more orderly.
He emphasized that the approach taken by the Damai Cartenz Task Force is not solely focused on law enforcement, but also prioritizes communication, community engagement, and the protection of civilians.
“I see the presence of the Damai Cartenz Task Force as not just about security operations, but also about how they build communication with residents. This kind of approach helps people feel calmer and respected,” Doni Donatus Gobai said.
Doni also voiced support for law enforcement efforts against armed groups that have disrupted public order. However, he stressed the importance of ensuring that such actions continue to uphold humanitarian values.
“Law enforcement is necessary, but what matters most is that people continue to feel protected. When security is maintained in a humane way, public trust will grow,” he added.
Furthermore, Doni urged Papuan communities not to be easily influenced by unverified information that could potentially create division. He underlined that active public participation is essential in maintaining peace within each community.
“Papua is our shared home. If not us, then who will take care of it? Let’s preserve the situation, which is already improving, with a spirit of brotherhood,” he concluded.
He hopes that the continued presence of the Damai Cartenz Task Force will bring positive impacts to society and support sustainable development in Papua through a safe and peaceful environment.
