Boven Digoel — The Boven Digoel Regency Government has emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of agricultural machinery assistance to accelerate the development of the local agricultural sector. The message was conveyed by Boven Digoel Regent Roni Omba during the handover of agricultural equipment to local farmer groups.
The assistance, provided by the central government and facilitated through Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) member Edoardus Kaize, aims to strengthen agricultural production facilities in Boven Digoel. The handover ceremony took place on Monday (December 29, 2025), at the courtyard of the Office of Food Crops, Horticulture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Boven Digoel Regency.
In his remarks, Regent Roni Omba expressed his appreciation for the central government’s support and attention to the needs of farmers in the region. He stated that the agricultural machinery is expected to enhance farming productivity and support the modernization of agriculture in Boven Digoel.
He stressed that the equipment must be properly used and well maintained to ensure long-term benefits for farmers. According to him, the machinery should not be neglected but instead utilized optimally to support daily agricultural activities.
Furthermore, the regent highlighted the crucial role of agricultural extension officers in assisting farmers. Continuous guidance is considered essential to ensure the effective and efficient use of the machinery in accordance with local farming conditions.
Roni Omba acknowledged that the performance of extension services has not yet reached its full potential. Therefore, he encouraged extension officers to be more active in the field and to consistently accompany farmers throughout the farming process.
The Boven Digoel Regency Government aims to achieve sustainable growth in agricultural output. This improvement is expected to contribute not only to regional food security but also to the economic welfare of local communities.
