Timika – Thousands of employees of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and their family members take advantage of the Christmas Flight & Boat program provided by the company to travel home to their hometowns in the mountainous and coastal areas of Papua during the 2026 Christmas and New Year holidays.
This annual program was held again as a form of PTFI’s commitment in supporting the social and family needs of employees, especially in celebrating religious moments with families in their respective areas of origin. Air and sea transportation facilities are specially prepared to reach remote areas that have limited access to regular transportation.
Since Thursday, December 11, 2025, the atmosphere of Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport seems crowded with passengers who will follow PTFI’s inaugural Christmas flight. Enthusiasm can be seen from the employees and families who have crowded the departure waiting room since the morning.
One of the passengers, Persekila Kayame, the daughter of Simon Kayame who is an employee of PTFI, is seen preparing to make a trip home to Paniai Regency. Together with her mother, grandmother, and two younger siblings, Persekila will celebrate Christmas and New Year in their hometown in Enarotali.
He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity given through the PTFI Christmas Flight program. According to him, the facility really helps his family to be able to gather and celebrate the big religious day with relatives.
“Praise God, during this year’s holiday Father got a plane ticket from PTFI for our family to leave from Timika to Enarotali. There, you are already waiting for us as a family to celebrate Christmas and New Year together,” said Persekila with joy.
Through this Christmas Flight & Boat program, PTFI hopes to continue to strengthen the family ties of employees as well as bring happiness in the middle of Christmas and New Year celebrations, especially for Papuan people who have to travel a long way to return to their hometown.
