Jayawijaya Interfaith Forum Urges Residents to Maintain Peace Ahead of Christmas 2025

Wamena — As the Christmas celebration approaches, the Chairman of the Jayawijaya Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB), Pastor Kornelius Basa Kopon, called on all residents to safeguard calm, security, and peace throughout the holiday season.

He conveyed this message as a form of concern and commitment to ensuring a conducive atmosphere during this meaningful religious celebration.

In his statement on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Pastor Kornelius emphasized that Christmas is not only a celebration for Christians but also a moment to strengthen interfaith unity across the Baliem Valley and its surrounding areas.

“Let us work together to maintain calm, security, and peace so that this year’s Christmas can be celebrated with joy,” he said.

He further highlighted that harmony among residents is a crucial foundation for building a peaceful and cohesive society. By upholding tolerance and mutual respect, the people of Jayawijaya are expected to demonstrate a strong example of unity.

FKUB, in coordination with security forces and community leaders, remains committed to ensuring that the situation stays safe throughout the Christmas festivities.

“Support from all levels of society is considered the key to preserving regional stability, especially in Jayawijaya Regency,” he stressed.
