Papua- National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed the data they have regarding the condition of Papuan terrorists or the term they still use, namely KKB (Armed Criminal Group).
Ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections, Listyo Sigit claims that currently at least Papuan terrorists have multiplied into 24 networks and have thousands of members.
“Regarding the Kamtibmas situation in Papua, we report that to date there are 24 KKB networks with a total strength of 1,438 members, and they have 361 firearms spread across 14 districts,” said Listo Sigit in his presentation.
Listyo then explained that he was placing special vigilance against Papuan terrorists in the Papua Mountainous areas which were considered vulnerable.
“Especially in mountainous areas, this also of course has high vulnerability, especially during the regional elections, so we are paying special attention,” he said.
For data on Papuan terrorist disturbances during 2024, according to Listyo Sigit, there have been 217 actions with a total of 104 victims, and it is even indicated that they are affiliated with political movements.
“Data on KKB disturbances during 2024 included 217 actions and 104 victims. “Then there are also groups or KKB that are politically active and they carried out 205 actions, there are 4 groups starting from KPNB, ULMWP, GRPWP and so on,” he explained.
“They took various forms of action, starting from raising issues of marginalization and discrimination, the history of integration and political status, human rights violations, development failures in Papua,” he added.
