Calls for peaceful regional elections, Kenius Kogoya asks that there be no negative stigma with the politics of fighting between people, race and identity politics

Jayapura- Ahead of the 2024 simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in Papua, the public is asked not to be provoked by negative issues and stigma towards regional head candidates who will contest.

This assertion was conveyed by a Papuan intellectual figure, Kenius Kogoya, who synchronized the public to be wise in making choices.

Kenius mentioned the importance of using conscience and maintaining harmony amidst Papua’s diversity.

“This regional election is a democratic process to elect leaders who will lead us for the next 5 years. “Don’t make the wrong choice, because we will be led by those who have a heart for Papua,” he stressed.

However, as a young Papuan figure, he also said that people are not easily provoked by politics of fighting against each other, SARA politics, or identity politics played by certain individuals, groups and even the success teams of candidate pairs.

“What we need is a unifying leader, who will lead the various nations in this country,” he stressed.

At the end, Kenius emphasized that the Land of Papua belongs to us together, consisting of various tribes, religions, races, groups & languages.
