Jayapura- Papuan community leader, Herman Yoku, appreciated the law enforcement efforts carried out by TNI-Polri officers against the KKB in Papua. Herman Yoku, who is also the Chief of the Great Tribe of Keerom Regency, appealed to all Papuans to jointly maintain the security and conduciveness of kamtibmas in Papua. Saturday/3/6/2023.
In an interview in Jayapura, Herman Yoku expressed his hope that the commemoration of the Birth of Pancasila on June 1 could be a momentum for all Papuans to keep Papua safe and peaceful within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Herman Yoku also invited his brothers and sisters who have ideological differences to introspect on their shortcomings and convey them to the government. He emphasized that the government is God’s representative in this world in accordance with the teachings of the five religions in Indonesia.
As a member of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP), Herman Yoku conveyed a message to those with ideological differences that they are Indonesian citizens and not West Papuan citizens. He emphasized that all people are the same, no matter the difference in skin color or hair so that the Law is still enforced on anyone who goes against the law and disrupts the Idiology of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
The former OPM who had experienced the Army military detention center in Kloofkamp, North Jayapura District, Jayapura City from 1979 to 1983 said he shared his experience as a former combatant who fought abroad for Papuan independence. He stated that the struggle did not receive support from other countries and all their efforts were in vain. He emphasized that there is no country out there that supports the struggle for an independent Papua. Therefore, he urged his brothers and sisters to return to being good Indonesian citizens.
Herman Yoku added that the TNI-Polri had made various approaches to embrace them to return to NKRI, but they were not heeded. Therefore, he asked that law enforcement be strictly enforced against anyone who violates the law. According to him, this country is a state of law and everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
“I express my appreciation for the law enforcement carried out by the TNI-Polri apparatus against the KKB in Papua. I also appeal to the KKB to return to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).”, he concluded.
