PUNCAK JAYA, Central Papua – Personnel of the Police Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2026 in the Puncak Jaya sector conducted a foot patrol through several areas of Muara District, Puncak Jaya Regency, on Monday (August 31, 2026). During the patrol, officers stopped several times to speak with residents and distribute snacks before continuing their route.
The patrol began in Kulirik, Puncak Jaya, before proceeding to Muara District. Upon arrival, personnel walked through residential areas and several locations where residents were carrying out their daily activities.
The interactions with residents were informal. Officers greeted people they encountered, asked about their activities and spoke with them about conditions in the surrounding area. Some residents also received snacks brought by the personnel.
For residents, the encounters were brief and took place amid their daily routines. For the officers, the conversations provided an opportunity to hear directly from the community about conditions in the areas they were patrolling.
One resident, who requested anonymity, expressed appreciation for the visit.
“Thank you to the police officers who came and greeted us. We were happy to have the opportunity to talk together. We hope you will always be given good health and safety while carrying out your duties,” the resident said.
After speaking with residents, the personnel continued their patrol to the next locations. Community activities continued normally throughout the patrol.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said patrols in operational areas should be accompanied by direct communication whenever personnel encounter members of the community.
“When conducting patrols, personnel need to observe conditions in the area directly and communicate with the people they encounter. Listen to what residents have to say and continue to maintain a respectful attitude during interactions,” said the Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., said foot patrols allow personnel to observe local conditions firsthand while also providing opportunities to meet and speak with residents.
“Walking patrols allow personnel to see the conditions of the area directly and meet members of the community. When officers encounter residents, they can greet them and have conversations according to the situation in the field,” said the Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2026.
The distribution of snacks was carried out informally when personnel met residents during the patrol.
After covering several locations in Muara District, the personnel returned to the Kulirik Post in Puncak Jaya for a check-in. Throughout the activity, the security situation in the patrolled areas remained stable, while community activities continued normally.
The patrol followed a simple rhythm: walking through residential areas, stopping when encountering residents, talking for a while, and then continuing the journey. For the personnel, these conversations were part of their duties in the field; for residents, the brief encounters provided an opportunity to greet one another and share stories.
