Jayapura – A coalition of student organizations under the banner of Cipayung Plus Papua has officially expressed full support for the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as well as Papua’s newly elected Governor and Deputy Governor, Mathius D. Fakhiri and Aryoko Rumaropen.
The statement was made on Friday (October 10, 2025) by the coalition, which consists of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), the Indonesian Christian Student Movement (GMKI), the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI), and the Islamic Student Association – Organizational Rescue Council (HMI MPO).
In their press release, Cipayung Plus praised President Prabowo’s leadership for bringing new energy to strengthening national sovereignty, accelerating equitable development, and reaffirming a strong commitment to the welfare of all citizens, including the people of Papua.
They also welcomed the election of Mathius D. Fakhiri and Aryoko Rumaropen as Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua for the 2025–2030 term following a repeat election (PSU). The coalition believes that their leadership will be a fresh driving force for advancing a more prosperous and just Papua.
Cipayung Plus Papua outlined several expectations for the new government, including policies that improve public welfare through pro-people programs in education, healthcare, and local economic empowerment. They further emphasized the importance of strengthening unity, respecting culture and local wisdom, ensuring clean and transparent governance, and expanding opportunities for youth to play an active role in regional development.
“We are ready to serve as a strategic partner for the regional government. We will support every program that prioritizes the people’s interests, while remaining critical of policies that go against the needs of ordinary citizens,” the coalition declared in its written statement.
In addition, the organization called for the safeguarding of public security and order (kamtibmas), stressing that regional stability is the cornerstone for ensuring that governance and development in Papua can proceed smoothly, safely, and effectively.
