Jayapura – Yugum Diro Weya, Deputy Tribal Chief of the Central Highlands in Keerom Regency, has called on all residents of Papua—particularly those in Keerom Regency and Jayapura City—to uphold unity, security, and peace, in order to foster a conducive environment of public safety and order.
He emphasized the importance of all segments of society participating in maintaining harmony and preventing conflicts that could disrupt security stability in Papua.
Yugum also cautioned the public against being easily provoked by issues or information that could undermine unity. He urged residents to exercise wisdom when encountering information, to resist being swayed by calls that incite discord, and to continue strengthening tolerance, solidarity, and brotherhood amidst their differences.
Specifically, he encouraged young people, students, and university students to focus on their education—especially those currently living in cities for their studies—urging them to seize these opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills as a foundation for building their future.
According to him, the younger generation plays a vital role in the development of Papua. Therefore, they are encouraged to prioritize positive pursuits and avoid activities that could harm themselves or hinder their future prospects.
Yugum Diro Weya further invited traditional leaders, youth, students, and all members of society to work together to make Papua a “land of peace” by strengthening unity, tolerance, and solidarity, while remaining attentive to the security of their local communities.
He expressed his hope that a safe and harmonious atmosphere would support smooth development and foster progress and well-being for the people of Papua.
