Mimika Regency Government Calls on Public to Support People’s School Program

TIMIKA, CENTRAL PAPUA – The Mimika Regency Government in Central Papua has called on all elements of society to support the implementation of the Integrated People’s School 76 Mimika program to expand access to quality education, particularly for children from families in need of greater support.

Head of the Mimika Regency Social Affairs Office, Hasan Kemong, said in Timika on Saturday (October 17) that the establishment of the People’s School reflected the government’s commitment to providing better educational opportunities while developing high-quality human resources.

“We must work together to support the Integrated People’s School 76 Mimika. The government, teachers, parents, and all members of society share the responsibility of creating a safe, comfortable, and inclusive educational environment,” he said during the school’s first-anniversary celebration.

According to Hasan, education should not focus solely on acquiring knowledge in the classroom. It also plays an important role in shaping character, instilling discipline, building self-confidence, and preparing younger generations to face future challenges.

He expressed hope that the Integrated People’s School 76 Mimika would continue to develop into an educational environment capable of producing a generation that is intelligent, independent, strong in character, morally grounded, and committed to contributing to regional and national development.

Hasan also encouraged students not to feel inferior because of their economic circumstances or family backgrounds. He emphasized that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, develop their potential, and pursue a better future.

He urged students to make the most of their educational opportunities, remain committed to their studies, and never give up on their aspirations.

“Make the most of every opportunity by studying to the best of your ability,” he said.

Hasan added that students were expected to grow into a generation that dares to dream, explore new ideas, create meaningful work, and contribute to regional development and Indonesia’s progress.

The first-anniversary celebration of the Integrated People’s School 76 Mimika also coincided with the celebration of President Prabowo Subianto’s birthday.

Hasan said the Mimika Regency Government remained committed to improving the quality of human resources through education. He noted that development should not be measured solely by physical infrastructure and construction projects, but also by the ability to prepare a capable, culturally aware generation that cares for others and its region.

With the support of the government, educators, families, and the wider community, the People’s School program is expected to help expand educational opportunities and improve the welfare of people in Mimika Regency.
