MIMIKA, Papua – Bojan Dokainubun, Chairperson of the Mimika Regency Cipayung Leadership Alumni Forum, has expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Peace Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force in maintaining security and public order and providing a sense of safety for communities across Papua.
Bojan said the persuasive and humanitarian approach adopted by the Peace Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force is an important part of building communication and strengthening relations with local communities. According to him, maintaining security is not only carried out through law enforcement, but also through social activities and public services that directly reach the community.
“We appreciate the Indonesian National Police, particularly the Peace Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force, for its continued efforts to maintain security and public order in Papua,” Bojan said in Mimika Regency on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
He pointed to several activities carried out by task force personnel, including visits to orphanages, patrols in various areas, and health services for local residents. He said these activities provide opportunities for direct interaction between personnel and the community while helping to strengthen public trust.
“Such a presence shows that maintaining security is not only about law enforcement, but also about building trust and providing a sense of security to the community,” he said.
Bojan emphasized that security is a shared responsibility. The government, security forces, community leaders, religious leaders, youth representatives, and members of the public all have an important role in creating a safe and conducive environment.
“Security and peace cannot be built by one party alone. Cooperation is needed among the government, security forces, community leaders, religious leaders, youth representatives, and the entire community. Through good communication and mutual respect, we can work together to keep Mimika and Papua safe and peaceful,” he said.
On the same occasion, Bojan also strongly condemned the reported hostage-taking of civilians in Jila District, Mimika Regency. He said civilians, including women and children, should never become victims of violence.
“We strongly regret and condemn the hostage-taking of civilians that occurred in Jila District. Civilians must be protected and given a sense of security so they can carry out their daily activities,” he stressed.
According to Bojan, people should be able to work, attend school, worship, and provide for their families without being threatened by violence.
“We all certainly want a safe Papua, a peaceful Papua, where people can carry out their daily lives peacefully. Ultimately, the community itself is the one that feels the greatest impact of security conditions,” he added.
Bojan also expressed his support for the Indonesian National Police’s efforts through the Peace Cartenz-2026 Police Task Force to address various security disturbances while continuing to uphold the law and prioritize public safety.
“Law enforcement must continue, but at the same time, humanitarian approaches and communication with the community must also be strengthened. In this way, the presence of the Indonesian National Police can truly be felt as a protector and guardian of the community,” he said.
He then called on residents, particularly those in Mimika Regency, to take part in maintaining security in their respective communities. According to him, this can begin with simple steps such as maintaining communication among residents and not being easily influenced by unverified information.
“Let us work together to maintain calm, avoid spreading information that could cause panic, and always prioritize the interests of the community. If problems arise, let us resolve them through communication and peaceful means,” he said.
Bojan also urged the public not to provide any space for violence or information that could undermine unity.
“Let us be part of the solution. We must not give room to violence and must not be easily influenced by information that could divide our unity. Let us protect Mimika as our shared home,” he said.
He expressed hope that stable security conditions would support residents in carrying out their daily activities and allow development in Papua to continue.
“A peaceful Papua is the hope of us all. People can live safely, development can continue, children can attend school peacefully, and we can look forward to a better future for Papua,” Bojan concluded.
