Ilaga – The Puncak Regency Government continues to promote community welfare by strengthening the agricultural sector. One of the key initiatives is encouraging residents to utilize available land productively to enhance food security and improve household incomes.
The call was delivered by Puncak Regent Elvis Tabuni during the Socialization of the 2026 Village and District Expansion Plan held at Negelar Hall, Puncak Regency, on Monday (July 27).
In his remarks, the Regent emphasized that regional development should not focus solely on governance, but must also be accompanied by efforts to strengthen agriculture as one of the main pillars of the local economy.
“We encourage all residents to make use of their land for farming and to increase agricultural production. The government will provide awards to community members who successfully establish and manage productive gardens,” said Elvis Tabuni.
He explained that assessments will be conducted by a team from the Puncak Regency Agriculture Office, which will directly inspect farming areas, evaluate the types of crops cultivated, and assess their suitability to the local characteristics of Puncak Regency.
According to Elvis, the award program is not merely intended as a form of appreciation but also as an incentive to encourage more residents to actively engage in agriculture. Through increased farming activities, family food security can be strengthened, household incomes can improve, and the agricultural sector can continue to grow.
In addition to promoting agricultural productivity, the Regent urged residents to maintain security, unity, and social harmony, and not to be easily influenced by unverified information.
He stressed that successful development requires the support and participation of all elements of society. Therefore, the government hopes the community will continue to maintain a safe and conducive environment to ensure development programs can be implemented effectively.
Regent Elvis Tabuni expressed optimism that through mutual cooperation and strong collaboration between the government and the community, Puncak Regency will continue to progress, achieve greater food self-sufficiency, and improve public welfare through the development of local agriculture.
