Jayapura – Papuan youth activist, Nelvis Manobi, assesses that the approach that prioritizes dialogue between the apparatus and the community needs to be maintained as part of the effort to create a safe and conducive situation in Papua. According to him, open communication can go hand in hand with law enforcement that is carried out according to the provisions.
The statement was delivered by Nelvis Manobi in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Thursday (16/7). He said that the community basically wants safe conditions so that they can carry out daily activities, such as working, going to school, and interacting socially without interruption.
According to Nelvis, the presence of Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force personnel in the community is not only seen through security activities, but also through direct communication with residents in various occasions in the field. He assessed that such a dialogue space is important so that people can convey their aspirations and conditions that they face.
“I support an approach that prioritizes dialogue with the community. When the officers are present and want to listen, the public has space to convey their hopes and problems that they experience. On the other hand, law enforcement against the party who committed the criminal act must also continue to run according to the applicable rules. Our hope is that the situation in Papua will be safer so that the community can carry out activities calmly,” said Nelvis.
He also invited the young generation of Papua to take part in maintaining their respective environments and building good communication with various parties. According to him, security is not only the responsibility of the apparatus, but also requires community participation in preventing the emergence of potential disturbances in the surrounding environment.
“If the situation remains safe, the community can work, children can go to school, and daily activities run as usual. That is what we hope together,” he said.
The view conveyed by Nelvis shows the importance of building communication between the apparatus and the community in maintaining the security situation in Papua. On the other hand, he assesses that professional law enforcement and in accordance with the provisions is still necessary for every action that interferes with security, so that the community can carry out daily activities with a sense of security.
