BPJS Employment Jayapura Employees Plant Mangroves at Holtekamp Beach, a Real Form of Concern for the Environment

Jayapura, Papua – The commitment to maintain environmental sustainability continues to be realized by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Papua Jayapura Branch Office through the action of planting mangrove trees in the coastal area of Holtekamp Beach, Jayapura City. The activity that carries the theme of Employee Volunteering involves dozens of employees as a form of concern for the preservation of coastal ecosystems as well as supporting efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change.

This greening action is carried out as a real step in protecting coastal areas from the threat of abrasion and improving the quality of the environment in one of the leading tourist destinations in Papua Province. Mangrove planting is also expected to be able to provide long-term benefits for the community, both in terms of coastal area protection and marine ecosystem sustainability.

Not only being a company social activity, this program is also a means to grow a culture of caring for the environment among employees. All participants are directly involved in the planting process, starting from seed preparation to planting along the coastal area of Holtekamp Beach.

Interestingly, this activity is fully supported by the spirit of togetherness of the employees. All financing comes from self-help funds and voluntary donations of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan employees of the Papua Jayapura Branch Office, without using the office’s operational budget. The initiative reflects the high concern of employees towards environmental conservation issues.

Through this Employee Volunteering action, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan hopes to be able to make a positive contribution to nature conservation efforts in Papua as well as inspire various parties to participate in preserving the environment. The existence of mangrove forests has an important role as a natural fortress that is able to reduce the impact of abrasion, maintain the quality of coastal ecosystems, and become a habitat for various types of marine biota.

In addition to providing ecological benefits, this activity also strengthens the values of gotong royong, social concern, and shared responsibility in maintaining environmental sustainability. With the increasing involvement of the community and various institutions in the greening action, it is hoped that the coastal area of Holtekamp Beach can continue to maintain its purity as a tourism asset as well as a natural heritage for future generations.

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan emphasized that social and environmental activities like this will continue to be encouraged as part of the company’s contribution in supporting sustainable development. Through collaboration and mutual concern, efforts to maintain environmental sustainability in Papua are expected to continue and provide benefits for the community and ecosystem in the future.
