Central Papua Police Distribute Productive Assistance to Strengthen Economic Resilience in Paniai

Paniai, Central Papua – The Central Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua Tengah) continue to strengthen their social role by distributing productive assistance to residents of Bibida District, Paniai Regency, as part of the 2026 Cinta Damai Noken Operation. The assistance includes fish fingerlings, agricultural seedlings, food packages, and clean water storage tanks to support community welfare through the development of the agricultural and fisheries sectors.

Central Papua Deputy Police Chief, Kombes Pol Gustav Robby Urbinas, stated that the program reflects the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to supporting community development through a humane approach and local economic empowerment based on regional potential.

According to him, security and public welfare are closely interconnected. Therefore, in addition to maintaining regional stability, the police are also committed to helping communities improve their standard of living through sustainable productive activities.

“We hope this assistance can be utilized to develop agricultural and fisheries businesses, strengthen food security, and increase household income,” he said.

Paniai Police Chief AKBP Roycke HF Betaubun added that the distribution of catfish fingerlings and various agricultural seedlings serves as an initial step to encourage residents to develop local economic potential through farming and aquaculture activities.

He expressed hope that the community, particularly Papuan women entrepreneurs and local farmer groups in Bibida District, would make the best use of the assistance so that it could provide long-term benefits for their families and surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, Paniai Regent Yampit Nawipa appreciated the collaboration established by the Central Papua Police in supporting community economic development. He emphasized that the local government remains committed to promoting the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors as key pillars for improving public welfare.

During the event, residents of Bibida District also expressed their gratitude for the support provided. One local farmer, *Wilem Zonggonau*, hoped that similar programs would continue in the future, including assistance for livestock farming, fisheries, Papuan women’s small retail businesses, and coffee plantations, which have become one of the region’s important sources of income.

The assistance distributed included chili, corn, cabbage, and vegetable seedlings, fish fingerlings, food packages, and clean water storage tanks, all of which were symbolically handed over to community representatives. The event concluded with the planting of chili seedlings and the release of fish fingerlings into community ponds in Kugapa Village, Bibida District, symbolizing the beginning of locally based productive economic development in the area.
