Jayapura – A young leader from Mountainous Papua, Charles Kossay, has called on all levels of society to jointly support development in various sectors as an effort to promote the progress and prosperity of the Papuan people. According to Charles, development needs to be implemented comprehensively and not neglect certain areas so that all members of society can benefit equally.
“Development in all sectors needs to be implemented and, of course, must be supported by all levels of society,” he said in a press release in Jayapura on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
He hopes that the central and regional governments can implement development more comprehensively so that all regions in Papua receive equal attention.
“The central and regional governments must develop comprehensively, without choosing which areas to prioritize. Specifically for Papua, everyone must work together so that no one feels overlooked or neglected,” he said.
Charles also urged the community to maintain unity and not be easily influenced by various issues that could trigger divisions within the community.
“Therefore, I ask all parties to work together to support the government in developing Papua. Let’s not be divided by issues deliberately raised to incite anger and even attack each other, ultimately causing us to suffer,” he said.
He specifically urged the younger generation of Papua to take a role in the development process and not simply be spectators.
“My hope is that my fellow young people in Papua can contribute to this development, not be mere spectators. Let’s work together and contribute to our shared progress,” he said.
According to Charles, differences within society should be a strength and enrich social life, not a source of division.
“As young people, we must demonstrate that differences are not challenges but rather the colors of life. Let’s work together to develop the region and not respond to provocative calls and narratives that have recently been circulating on social media,” he said.
In closing, Charles urged the community to continue improving the quality of human resources through education and a spirit of learning to realize a better future for Papua.
“Let’s maintain togetherness in building a more advanced Papua, improving human resources through diligent study so we can achieve our dreams and make Papua a better place for the future,” said Charles.
