Jayapura – PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) Jayapura Branch is offering a 30 percent discount on passenger ship tickets for residents across Papua during the school holiday season. The initiative is aimed at easing travel expenses and improving public access to affordable sea transportation.
Head of PELNI Jayapura Branch, Daulat Apul Grevasius, stated that the fare reduction is part of the government’s effort to support community mobility during the holiday period. He noted that the program is also expected to stimulate regional economic activity and encourage tourism growth across Papua.
“We hope the public will take full advantage of this discounted fare program during the school holiday season. With more affordable ticket prices, people can travel more easily using safe and comfortable sea transportation services,” he said.
According to him, the discount applies to several shipping routes served by PELNI vessels in Papua, including inter-district and inter-island routes that are widely used by local communities.
In addition to providing financial relief for passengers, the program is expected to increase passenger traffic during the holiday period. PELNI has assured the public that all operating vessels will continue to prioritize safety, security, and passenger comfort.
PELNI Jayapura also encouraged travelers to plan their trips in advance and purchase tickets early to avoid limited seat availability, as demand is expected to rise during the school holiday season.
