The Papua Provincial Government continues to strengthen the agricultural and plantation sectors as an effort to improve the welfare of the people in the interior. One of them is through the distribution of agricultural tools and machinery (alsintan) for farmers in Mamberamo Raya Regency.
The program is expected to be able to encourage the village community to utilize the potential of agricultural land optimally so that it can improve the economy of the residents independently and sustainably.
Governor of Papua, Mathius D. Fakhiri, said that the assistance provided by the government is focused on the basic needs of farmers so that the community can more easily develop the agricultural and plantation sectors in their areas.
According to him, the prepared assistance includes agricultural tools and machinery, plant seeds, agricultural support tools, to the rice field printing program as part of strengthening food security and community empowerment.
“The assistance includes agricultural tools and machines, plant seeds, agricultural tools, to the rice field printing program,” said Mathius D. Fakhiri in Jayapura, Sunday.
He explained, all the assistance is part of a government program that is given free of charge to the community to encourage the economic independence of residents, especially in areas that have considerable agricultural potential such as Mamberamo Raya.
In addition, the Papua Provincial Government also emphasized the importance of supporting the community and local governments in providing agricultural development locations so that the program can run optimally.
“We do not give money, but we give hoes, cocoa seeds, plant seeds, and rice field molding assistance so that people can work and be independent,” he said.
Mathius D. Fakhiri also emphasized that the government will not take or buy people’s land in the implementation of the program. The government only asks for location support so that the development of the agricultural and plantation sectors can be carried out as planned.
Through the assistance, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that the agricultural sector in Mamberamo Raya Regency can develop better and open up new economic opportunities for the village community in order to improve the welfare of the people in the Papua region.
