Nabire – The spirit of brotherhood and unity has become the primary focus in efforts to resolve boundary issues and social conflicts in the Kapiraya region. The Central Papua Provincial Government, together with the Mimika, Dogiyai, and Deiyai Regency Governments, held a coordination meeting via Zoom as a step to strengthen synergy and build mutual understanding.
The meeting involved elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), local governments, and traditional community leaders from the involved parties. It served as a platform for dialogue to reinforce family values and seek peaceful solutions acceptable to all sides.
Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) of Central Papua, Albertus Adii, emphasized that a brotherhood-based and dialogic approach is key to resolving conflicts without causing division within the community.
“Today, together with the three regencies, we are committed to resolving this issue through brotherhood, dialogue, and mutual understanding. The government has agreed to form a special team so that the resolution process can proceed properly, peacefully, and without prolongation,” said Albertus after attending a meeting with the Governor at the Central Papua Governor’s Office on Friday (February 13, 2026).
He explained that each regency will establish a conflict resolution team tasked with conducting intensive communication with customary land rights holders and traditional leaders, particularly from the Kamoro and Mee tribes, by prioritizing local wisdom values.
“Our approach is rooted in customary traditions and family-based dialogue. The team will directly engage with communities to build communication, strengthen brotherhood, and find common ground acceptable to all parties,” he explained.
In addition, the government has agreed on preventive measures to maintain a conducive situation, while continuing to prioritize persuasive efforts to avoid tensions on the ground.
“These control measures are taken solely to maintain calm and prevent misunderstandings. The hope is that communities can continue to live peacefully side by side while the resolution process is underway,” he added.
He also urged all members of the community to preserve unity and not be easily provoked by information that could create division.
“We call on all people in Kapiraya, both Kamoro and Mee, to maintain the bonds of brotherhood. We are all one big family who must respect one another and uphold peace together,” he stressed.
Through cross-regional cooperation and a dialogue-based approach rooted in customary values and brotherhood, the government hopes that social conflicts in Kapiraya can be resolved peacefully, fairly, and sustainably for the benefit of all communities.
