Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force Patrol in Intan Jaya: Interaction with Residents and Children in Sugapa

Intan Jaya – Personnel from the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation Task Force conducted a patrol in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Wednesday (March 25, 2026). The patrol lasted from morning until noon and covered several locations, including Mamba Village, Intan Jaya Market, and the Bank Papua area.

In Mamba Village and the market, personnel stopped to speak with residents as they went about their activities. Several residents were seen explaining the condition of the village, while officers provided security advice.

During the patrol, several officers also interacted with children in the surrounding area. They distributed snacks and invited them to play in the open yard. Some children approached, while others chose to watch from a distance.

“I saw the children were happy, but some were still a little scared,” said a resident who witnessed the activity.

At around 12:00 p.m. WIT, patrols continued in the Bank Papua area to ensure service activities were running as usual.

The Head of the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation, Inspector General of Police Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the dialogue patrols were conducted to strengthen communication with the community.

“These dialogue patrols are one of our efforts to be more present with the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of communication in preventing potential security disturbances.

“With good communication, potential security disturbances can be anticipated early,” he said.

The situation in the Sugapa area during the patrols was reportedly without incident. However, interactions between officers and the community still showed mixed responses.
