World Water Day, Pertamina Presents Clean Water Access from Papua to Disaster Affected Areas

Papua – In commemoration of World Water Day 2026, PT Pertamina (Persero) presents various programs to provide access to clean water for the community, ranging from remote areas in Papua to disaster-affected areas in Sumatra. This program is part of the company’s commitment through Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL).

Through the program, Pertamina builds boreholes, water filtration facilities, and distributes clean water assistance for people who have been experiencing limited access to water suitable for consumption. This effort is expected to improve the quality of life of the community as well as support recovery in disaster-affected areas.

Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, revealed that until the beginning of 2026, his party had built seven well drilling points equipped with filter facilities and water flow pipeline networks in the Merauke and Jayapura regions, Papua. The facility has now been used by around 4,585 people who previously faced difficulties in obtaining clean water.

“For Pertamina, this clean water initiative is not just the development of physical infrastructure, but an effort to maintain the dignity of humanity in the most needy areas. This program becomes a bridge of hope so that residents in the corners of Papua to disaster survivors in Sumatra can start to rebuild their lives properly,” said Baron in his official statement, Tuesday (3/24/2026).

In addition to infrastructure development, Pertamina also ensures the sustainability of the program by involving the local community in the management of clean water facilities. This is done so that the facilities that have been built can continue to be used in the long term.

The momentum of this World Water Day is also a reminder of the importance of access to clean water as a basic need that must be fulfilled for all communities. The presence of Pertamina through the TJSL program is expected to be able to give a real impact and encourage the collaboration of various parties in presenting sustainable solutions for the clean water crisis in Indonesia.

With this step, Pertamina not only contributes in the provision of energy, but also plays an active role in improving the welfare of the community and supporting sustainable development in various regions, especially areas that need more attention.
