Kiwirok, Papua Mountains — Amidst the Eid al-Fitr atmosphere synonymous with warmth and family togetherness, the presence of the Cartensz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force is part of the state’s efforts to maintain a conducive situation, ensuring that the public can safely carry out their daily activities, from children attending school to residents engaging in economic activities. On Saturday (March 21, 2026).
Behind the warm celebrations in various regions, the reality in Kiwirok is different. A sense of security has not yet become automatic for the community. Simple activities like going to the market, accessing health services, or taking children to school still depend on the dynamic security situation.
For local residents, peace is a fundamental need. Parents hope their children can learn without fear. Small traders want to open their stalls in peace, while other families simply want to go about their daily lives without the shadow of threat.
In this context, the role of the Carstensz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force is not merely a symbol of the state’s presence. Officials carry out their duties with a measured approach, prioritizing regional security, consistent law enforcement, and ensuring that every step is within a clear and accountable framework.
The Head of the Carstensz-2026 Peace Operation, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that the authorities’ efforts are not solely focused on security aspects, but also on strengthening the values of togetherness within the community.
“Our efforts aim to ensure that the community can live in a safe, together, and mutually protective environment. Building stability is not only about maintaining a conducive situation, but also about fostering and maintaining trust and a sense of brotherhood within the community,” said Inspector General Faizal.
The approach taken is not solely focused on enforcement but also on protecting the community. In several locations, the presence of officials has begun to provide space for residents to return to their normal activities. Children are slowly returning to school, social interactions are beginning to recover, and small economic activities are resuming.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of the Cartenz-2026 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the approach taken in the field prioritizes a balance between law enforcement and a humanitarian approach.
“We are here not only to maintain security, but also to provide a sense of calm to the community so they can return to their normal daily activities. Through a humanitarian approach, we strive to build communication, listen to the community’s needs, and ensure that every step taken truly provides protection and tangible benefits,” he explained.
Furthermore, a humanitarian approach is also a crucial part of carrying out our duties in the field. Officers interact directly with the community, listen to their aspirations, and build trust. This is considered crucial because long-term stability is built not only through force, but also through healthy relations between the state and society.
Efforts to maintain security in a region with complex challenges like Kiwirok are not an instantaneous process. It takes time, consistency, and sustainable policy direction to achieve comprehensive stability.
Amidst these duties, personnel continue to serve away from their families, including during holidays. However, more than that, these efforts are part of the state’s responsibility to ensure that every citizen, wherever they are, can feel a sense of security.
Ultimately, peace is not just about controlled conditions; it is about how the public’s hopes can be maintained day after day, through consistent, concrete work based on humanitarian values.
