PEGUNUNGAN BINTANG – Market activity in Kiwirok District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Wednesday (3/18/2026), took place as usual. Among the hustle and bustle of residents buying and selling, the personnel of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force were seen walking to greet the traders and the community one by one. Their presence is not just patrolling, but also building closeness with residents.
The dialogical patrol activity that started at 08.00 WIT was led by Ipda Yason Suhartono, S.H. Personnel comb the market area which is the center of community activity, ensuring the situation remains safe as well as opening a direct communication room with residents.
In between activities, officers are seen chatting casually with traders, listening to their stories, and receiving various inputs regarding the security conditions in the surrounding environment. The atmosphere also felt more fluid and some residents seemed to be smiling, even did not hesitate to say hello first when the personnel approached.
That simple approach is an effective way to bring a sense of security without distance. For the community, the presence of officers in the midst of daily activities provides its own tranquility, especially in areas that have geographical challenges and security dynamics such as Kiwirok.
Head of Cartenz Peace Operations 2026, Inspector General of Police. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that dialogic patrols are part of preventive measures that continue to be optimized to maintain security stability in Papua.
“We continue to encourage all personnel to be actively present in the community through dialogue and sambang patrols. With the direct presence, the public can feel that the state is really present to give a sense of security,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized the importance of building warm and open communication with the community.
“Direct interaction like this is the key to building trust. When communication is established well, the community will be more open in conveying information, so that potential security disturbances can be prevented early on,” he said.
The patrol that lasted until noon ran safely and smoothly. More than just a routine activity, the presence of officers in the middle of the Kiwirok market is a picture of how the humanist approach is able to strengthen the sense of security while strengthening the relationship between officers and the community in the Bintang Mountains.
