JAYAPURA – The Papua Regional Police Food Task Force released a distribution of 137 tons of rice for the Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) program from the Perum Bulog warehouse in Jayapura, Friday (3/13/2026). The distribution was carried out to support the implementation of the cheap market movement ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
The release of rice distribution is led directly by the Papuan Food Task Force, Rama Samtama Putra, who emphasized that this step is part of the government’s efforts to maintain the stability of the price of basic ingredients in the midst of increasing community needs ahead of the religious day.
According to him, the activity is part of the cheap market movement that is carried out simultaneously in various regions in Indonesia to ensure the availability of food and maintain price affordability for the community.
“The Papua Police’s Price, Security, and Food Quality Cleanup Task Force together with Bulog and the Provincial Trade Office today released the distribution of SPHP rice in the framework of a cheap market movement that was carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia, including in the Papua region,” he said.
He explained that as much as 137 tons of SPHP rice will be distributed to the Greater Papua region which includes three provinces, namely Papua, Papua Pegunungan, and South Papua.
This rice distribution is expected to be able to suppress the potential spike in rice prices in the market while maintaining the availability of food stocks for the community, especially ahead of Eid momentum which is usually accompanied by an increase in the consumption of staples.
In addition, the Papua Regional Police Food Task Force also continues to monitor the distribution and price of food in the market to prevent hoarding and price speculation practices that can harm the community.
Through this step, the government hopes that the public can obtain staple food at a stable and affordable price, so that the needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr can be met well.
