Guaranteeing Public Security, the Carstensz Peace Task Force and the Lanny Jaya Police Patrol Residents

LANNY JAYA – Amidst the quiet mountainous landscape of Papua, yet harboring complex security dynamics, the police presence is not merely about protecting the region but also about fostering trust. On Saturday (March 7, 2026), personnel from the Carstensz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force, along with the Lanny Jaya Police, went directly through residential areas in a joint patrol, ensuring that the situation remained conducive and strengthening the police’s relationship with the community.

The patrol, led by Lanny Jaya Police Chief, AKBP Frans Daniel Tamaela, targeted several residential areas in Lanny Jaya Regency, in the Papua Highlands. This activity is part of a preventive security strategy and a dialogical approach that positions the community as a primary partner in maintaining security stability.

Beyond simply patrolling, the personnel stopped at several locations to greet residents, engage in direct conversation with them, and listen to their complaints and aspirations openly. This approach demonstrates the humanistic image of the Indonesian National Police, present not only as security guards but also as friends of the community.

Lanny Jaya Police Chief, AKBP Frans Daniel Tamaela, emphasized that the joint patrols were designed not only to monitor the security situation but also to build strong communication with residents.

“We are conducting these patrols using a dialogical approach. Our personnel not only ensure the security of the area but also greet and engage in dialogue with the community. The presence of police among the community demonstrates our commitment to providing a sense of security and fostering closeness,” he said.

The public response has been positive. The presence of officers who greet them directly makes residents feel more cared for and protected.

Separately, the Head of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Brigadier General Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.IK., M.H., emphasized that the joint patrols are part of an operational strategy that emphasizes a humanistic approach to maintaining security in Papua.

“The Indonesian National Police (Polri) wants to ensure that the public feels the direct presence of the state. Dialogic patrols like this are our way of building public trust. When communication is good, security stability will be achieved together,” he explained.

Similarly, the Deputy Head of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.IK., M.Hum., assessed the joint patrols as a strong symbol of the synergy between the Cartenz Peace Task Force and regional authorities in maintaining security stability.

“Collaboration between the Task Force and the Resort Police (Polres) is a key force in maintaining a conducive situation. Through joint patrols and direct outreach to the community, we want to ensure that residents feel that the Polri is always there to protect and serve,” said Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma. This joint patrol is part of the ongoing commitment of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Operation to maintaining security stability in Papua. In a region that frequently faces security challenges, a persuasive and humane approach is key. The police are present not merely as officers, but as partners with the community in maintaining peace in Papua.
