PUNCAK — Joint personnel from the Ops Damai Cartenz Task Force and the Puncak Police provided security escort and assistance during a public demonstration held in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, on Friday (March 6, 2026).
The activity was carried out following developments among residents of Omukiya District after the arrest of a suspect identified as Kalimak Wanibo. As a precautionary measure, security personnel conducted monitoring and security arrangements at several strategic locations, particularly around the Puncak Regent’s Office.
During the operation, officers prioritized a persuasive and humanistic approach toward the demonstrators. Authorities also appealed to the participants to maintain public order and refrain from actions that could potentially disrupt security and public stability.
The security escort for the demonstration was conducted openly with the aim of ensuring a safe environment and guaranteeing that the community could express their aspirations in an orderly and peaceful manner.
Head of Ops Damai Cartenz 2026, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the presence of security personnel in assisting public activities is part of ongoing efforts to maintain stability and security in the Papua region.
“We ensure that every community activity, including the expression of public aspirations, can take place safely. Our personnel in the field consistently prioritize a humanistic approach and dialogue to ensure the situation remains conducive,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of Ops Damai Cartenz 2026, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that synergy between security forces and the community is essential in maintaining public order.
“We urge the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked. Security personnel are present to provide protection and support so that community activities can proceed safely and smoothly,” he added.
Overall, the public demonstration in Ilaga District proceeded in an orderly and peaceful manner. The security situation in Puncak Regency remained safe and under control until the activity concluded.
