Central Papua – Efforts to maintain security stability in the Central Papua region continue to be carried out by the security apparatus through measurable and sustainable operations. One of the main focuses right now is the pursuit of an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya who is suspected of being involved in a number of violent acts that disturb the community.
The law enforcement operation was carried out by the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force which was at the forefront of carrying out tasks in conflict-prone areas. The security forces continue to move to comb a number of areas that are suspected to be the group’s movement routes.
Central Papua Regional police chief, Chief Commissioner of Police ermias Rontini, emphasized that the suppression operation against the Aibon Kogoya group is currently the priority of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, while the Central Papua Regional Police acts as a regional controller as well as providing full support for the implementation of the operation.
“We are the territorial controllers. This pursuit task was specifically carried out by the friends of the Cartenz Peace Task Force. We provide a full backup as a controller in the Central Papua region,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Jermias Rontini, Friday (3/6/2026).
He hopes that the operation carried out by the Cartenz Peace Task Force personnel can run optimally so that it can provide a sense of security for the people in the Central Papua region.
“We hope that the fellow task force will do their duties to the maximum so that it provides comfort for the community and the kamtibmas situation can remain conducive,” he added.
On that occasion, the Central Papua Police Chief also appealed to the public to increase their vigilance and not enter areas that have the potential to be the movement route of armed groups. This step is considered important to avoid risks that can endanger the safety of civilians.
In general, the pursuit operation against armed groups in Papua is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain public security and order in the region that has been facing the challenges of armed conflict for the past few years.
The existence of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force itself is part of the country’s special approach in handling the security situation in Papua. This operation combines law enforcement strategies, intelligence activities, and protection measures against civil society in areas that are considered prone to security disturbances.
