Jayapura – Papua Connection calls for an end to all forms of armed violence perpetrated by Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in Papua, particularly those targeting civilians, teachers, and healthcare workers. This call was delivered directly by Papua Connection Initiator Charles Kossay during the National Dialogue and Papua Connection Declaration in Jakarta on Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
Charles Kossay emphasized that protecting teachers and healthcare workers is a non-negotiable humanitarian issue. They are the frontline of public services in Papua and should have their safety and dignity protected, not become victims of armed violence.
“Any form of violence against teachers, healthcare workers, and civilians is a form of terror against humanity. The actions of the KKB not only violate humanitarian values but also undermine the hope for the future of Papua,” he said.
The Papuan issue cannot be viewed in isolation. The issues of development, human rights, and security are interconnected.
“Therefore, Papua Connection strongly rejects armed violence and rejects provocation, disinformation, and the politicization of identity, including those exploiting religious sentiments that could exacerbate the situation and harm the Papuan people,” he said.
Charles Kossay also emphasized Papua Connection’s support for Papuan development that is just, inclusive, and human rights-based. Development, including National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Papua, must be carried out in a participatory manner and in accordance with the spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.
“Papua needs participatory development; the spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution must be realized in the Land of Papua. I am confident that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, this can be achieved. The most important thing is that the intention and goal must be truly for the advancement of the Papuan people,” he said.
Through the declaration, the Papua Connection initiator reaffirmed his commitment to caring for humanity, protecting civilians, and strengthening national unity.
“Papua is a legitimate and inseparable part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and protecting Papua means protecting Indonesia’s future. Let us nurture Papua with humanitarian values and strengthen national unity,” he said.
