Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Terror in Papua Deemed Destroying Future Hopes

Jakarta – The terrorism of armed criminal groups (KKB) in Papua has been condemned, as they target teachers, healthcare workers, and civilians.

“Any form of violence against teachers, healthcare workers, and civilians is a form of humanitarian terror. The actions of these KKB not only violate humanitarian values, but also destroy the future hopes of Papua,” said Charles Kossay, the initiator of Papua Connection, as quoted by Media Indonesia, Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Kossay made this statement during the Papua Connection National Dialogue and Declaration in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Kossay emphasized that the protection of teachers and healthcare workers is a non-negotiable humanitarian issue.

According to Kossay, these groups play a role at the forefront of public services in Papua. Therefore, their safety and dignity must be protected.

Kossay also believes that the Papuan issue cannot be viewed in isolation, as development, human rights, and security are interrelated issues.

Charles also expressed his support for equitable, inclusive, and human rights-based development in Papua. He emphasized that development, including the National Strategic Projects (PSN), must be carried out in a participatory manner, as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.

“Papua needs participatory development. The spirit of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution must be realized in Papua. I am confident that under President Prabowo’s leadership, this can be achieved. The most important thing is that the intention and goals must be truly for the advancement of the Papuan people,” said Charles.

Through this declaration, Papua Connection reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and simultaneously strengthening national unity.

“Papua is a legitimate and inseparable part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and protecting Papua means protecting Indonesia’s future. Let us nurture Papua with humanitarian values and strengthen national unity,” Charles concluded.
