JAYAPURA – The Representative Office of Bank Indonesia Papua Province officially started a series of money exchange activities in the Semarak Rupiah Ramadhan and Berkah Eid al-Fitr (Serambi) 2026 program. The kick off activity was held in Jayapura on Thursday (19/2).
In this year’s Serambi program, BI Papua prepared a kartal of Rp1.16 trillion to meet the needs of the community during the holy month of Ramadhan until the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The money exchange service is scheduled to take place from February 18 to March 15, 2026.
The Head of BI Papua Representative in his speech said that the increase in the need for cash ahead of the national religious day is a routine phenomenon every year, especially to support public consumption activities, zakat payment, infak, alms, to the tradition of sharing Holiday Allowance (THR).
“The providy of this kartal money is our commitment to ensure that the needs of the community for money that can be properly met during the Ramadan and Eid period,” he said.
Through the Serambi program, BI also strengthens cash services both through banking and mobile cash services in a number of strategic points in Jayapura and other regions in Papua. The public is urged to exchange money through an official mechanism that has been prepared to avoid the practice of unofficial money exchange that has the potential to be detrimental.
In addition to ensuring the availability of sufficient money, BI Papua also emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of the money in circulation so that it remains decent and clean. Education to the public about Love, Pride, and Understanding Rupiah is also part of the series of Serambi 2026 activities.
With the availability of Rp1.16 trillion of the kartal money, it is hoped that the economic activities of the Papuan people during Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 can run smoothly, safely, and conducive.
