Four Suspects in Subsidized Fuel Misuse Case in Merauke Handed Over to Prosecutors

Merauke, South Papua — Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Papua Regional Police have officially handed over four suspects in an alleged subsidized fuel misuse case to the Merauke District Prosecutor’s Office, after the case files were declared complete (P-21) by prosecutors.

The second-stage handover, which included both the suspects and evidence, was carried out on Friday (February 6) at the Merauke Prosecutor’s Office. The four suspects were identified by the initials B (also known as IAN), MB, MT (also known as M), and S (also known as AT). One of them is reportedly an SPBU supervisor.

Papua Police Special Criminal Investigation Director Senior Commissioner Rama Samtama Putra stated that the handover was part of the police’s commitment to enforcing the law against the misuse of subsidized fuel.

“Today, investigators handed over four suspects along with evidence to the Merauke District Prosecutor’s Office after the case files were declared complete (P-21),” said Senior Commissioner Rama Samtama Putra.

He explained that the case involves alleged violations related to the transportation and trading of subsidized fuel, specifically Bio Solar B40, within the jurisdiction of Merauke Regency, South Papua.

The investigation began after authorities uncovered indications of irregularities in the distribution of subsidized fuel, which is intended to benefit the public, but was allegedly diverted and traded outside official procedures.

Following the handover, the suspects will undergo further legal proceedings under the authority of prosecutors, including preparation for trial in accordance with applicable laws.
