Jayapura – Fran Reynould Thejo, Chairman of the Papuan Youth Presidium for the Tabi Region, urged the entire community, especially in Jayapura, to work together to maintain public order and security (kamtibmas) ahead of the celebration of the Entry of the Gospel to Papua, which is commemorated every February 5th.
“The role of youth and the community is crucial in maintaining security and stability so that every series of religious and social activities can proceed safely, peacefully, and orderly,” he said.
He stated that they hope that the public order and security situation throughout Papua, especially in Jayapura City, will remain safe and conducive.
“Security is a shared responsibility that requires the active involvement of all levels of society,” he said.
He explained that he was concerned about a number of incidents in several regions of Papua where innocent civilians have become victims of violence.
“We hope that similar incidents will not recur in the future,” he added.
He also called on the entire community to support the police, who have been working to maintain security and order in Papua. Public support is considered crucial for the security forces to carry out their duties optimally and to create a sense of security.
“Let us support the police, who have been working to maintain security. Security is not only the duty of the police but also our collective responsibility as Papuans,” he said.
He stated that if the situation remains safe and conducive, community activities, as well as development, can proceed smoothly.
