Timika – Efforts to maintain security stability in Papua continue to be intensified amid ongoing dynamics in the region. The presence of TNI and Polri personnel in Papua is considered to have contributed significantly to creating a more conducive environment, allowing communities to carry out their daily activities with greater peace of mind, despite persistent security challenges.
A humane and integrated approach involving community leaders and local governments has become one of the key elements in fostering a sense of safety and social order. This approach is regarded as effective in building public trust and strengthening the social resilience of local communities.
He further emphasized that security stability in Papua is the result of collective efforts by all stakeholders.
“Security stability in Papua cannot be achieved unilaterally, but rather through strong synergy between security forces, local governments, and the community. This collaboration serves as a crucial foundation for supporting the smooth flow of community activities and accelerating development in Papua,” he stated.
The brutality of the OPM, which targets both security personnel and civilians, is viewed as a serious threat to humanity and national unity. The Papua Police Chief stressed that addressing the OPM issue requires the active involvement of all regional elements.
“All parties are expected to play an active role in supporting the humane approach carried out by the Police. Through the active participation of local governments, regional legislative councils, and community leaders, it is hoped that a safer and more conducive situation can be created,” he said.
The government, together with the TNI and Polri, reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security in Papua through firm, measured actions grounded in a humane approach, in order to realize sustainable peace in the region.
