Nabire — The Papua Central Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Meki Nawipa and Deputy Governor Deinas Geley has distributed educational assistance to thousands of students currently pursuing higher education at 25 private universities across Papua Central Province.
Governor Meki Nawipa stated that the assistance was provided as a form of government commitment and was intended as a Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 gift for eligible students.
“The funds are sourced from the Revised 2025 Provincial Budget of Papua Central Province and have been transferred directly to the personal bank accounts of student beneficiaries from 25 universities,” Governor Nawipa said in Nabire on Monday (December 22, 2025).
The total budget allocated for the program amounts to Rp22,913,811,000. The assistance targets active students in semesters 3, 5, and 7, reflecting the regional government’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources in Papua Central.
“This is a tangible expression of the government’s concern for the young generation of Papua Central who are pursuing higher education. We hope this assistance will help cover their academic needs,” Nawipa explained.
He emphasized that the funds were transferred directly to individual student accounts to ensure transparency and accuracy in distribution. The process was carried out based on official data of active students provided by each university within the province.
The data used for verification included the name of the university, student identity, student registration number, active semester status, and the amount of assistance received.
“We ensured that the data verification process was conducted rigorously to maintain accountability and prevent any misallocation of funds,” he added.
Through this assistance, the provincial government hopes students will be better supported in meeting both academic and daily living needs, while also being motivated to complete their studies successfully.
During the first term of the Nawipa–Geley administration, the education sector has been designated as a top development priority. This policy aligns with Papua Central Province’s broader vision of building superior, competitive, and character-driven human resources.
