MIMIKA — The Central Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua Tengah) will add one more Brimob Battalion.
This was conveyed by the Central Papua Police Chief, Brigadier General Alfred Papare, during an interview with the media at the Brimob Headquarters of Battalion B Pelopor, Brimob Unit of Central Papua Police, on Friday, 14 November 2025.
On that occasion, Brigjen Pol Alfred acknowledged that the current Brimob Personnel Structure Data (DSP) within the Central Papua Police is still not ideal.
Currently, Central Papua only has two Brimob Battalions: Battalion A in Nabire — which previously was Battalion C under Papua Police and was handed over to the Central Papua Police — and Battalion B Pelopor in Timika.
“In the future, we indeed plan to add another battalion, considering that security disturbances in the Central Papua Province are quite high, especially from our brothers (the Armed Criminal Group/KKB). Therefore, the presence of Brimob is very much needed,” he said.
He further emphasized that Brimob’s presence is crucial because the number of personnel in each district police (Polres) is limited.
With Brimob’s efforts, it is hoped that stability, security, and public order can be maintained.
“We know that government programs in conflict areas are still hindered by the activities of our brothers there,” he stressed.
“Today I am proud, because our Brimob is now officially part of the Central Papua Police, so Brimob’s movements to support the Polres ranks will no longer be delayed,” concluded Brigjen Pol Alfred.
