Jayapura — After a thorough investigation process, the Cartenz Peace Task Force in collaboration with the Yahukimo Police officially handed over suspect Aris Pahabol and related evidence in the case of an armed assault on health workers and teachers in Anggruk District, Yahukimo Regency, to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Jayawijaya District Attorney’s Office on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Police Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the handover — known as Stage II — was carried out after the Prosecutor’s Office declared the case file complete or P21, in accordance with the letter from the Head of the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office No. B-86/R.1.16/Eoh.1/10/2025, dated October 28, 2025.
“With the completion of Stage II, legal authority over suspect Aris Pahabol officially transfers to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.
The suspect, Aris Pahabol, is charged under several serious articles of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), including Article 340 on premeditated murder, Article 338 on murder, Article 351 on assault, and Article 187 on arson, all in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) point 1 of the same code.
The case originated from a police report LP/B/08/III/2025/SPKT/POLRES YAHUKIMO/POLDA PAPUA, filed on March 22, 2025, following a violent attack on health workers and teachers in Anggruk District the previous day, March 21, 2025. The incident shocked the local community as it resulted in casualties and property damage.
During the handover, Public Prosecutor Margrith Elain Duwiri, S.H., received several pieces of evidence submitted by investigators. These included a machete, a knife without a handle, burnt wood, black and white glass fragments, three mobile phones of various brands (a green ZTE Blade A35, a blue Nubia A56, and a red Oppo A31), and one Morning Star flag.
Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., explained that the entire process proceeded smoothly and in accordance with legal procedures. He detailed that at 8:15 a.m. WIT, the suspect was released from the Sentani Airport Police Detention Center and flown to Wamena aboard Trigana Air flight IL-271.
“The team arrived at Wamena Airport around 9:34 a.m. WIT and proceeded directly to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office to complete the Stage II process,” said Commissioner Adarma.
By 3:30 p.m. WIT, the handover and verification of evidence were completed. The suspect was then transferred to Class IIB Wamena Correctional Facility (Lapas) to begin his detention period pending trial.
As part of transparency efforts, the police confirmed that a formal notification of the handover of the suspect and evidence had been delivered to the suspect’s family. With the completion of this process, legal jurisdiction over the case is now officially under the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office, which will proceed to the trial phase.
