Manokwari, West Papua — During his working visit to Manokwari on Thursday (November 6, 2025), Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, presented a bicycle to a student who demonstrated exceptional skill in quick calculations using the “Gasing” method — an acronym for Gampang, Asyik, dan Menyenangkan (Easy, Fun, and Enjoyable).
The spontaneous moment took place during an educational event attended by Vice President Gibran and local students. In an interactive session, one student confidently showcased his ability to solve math problems swiftly and accurately without any tools, drawing applause and admiration from the audience.
Impressed by the student’s enthusiasm and intelligence, Vice President Gibran personally awarded the bicycle as a token of appreciation and encouragement for continued academic excellence.
“Papuan children have extraordinary potential that must be nurtured. The government remains committed to improving the quality of education across all regions of Indonesia, including Papua,” Gibran said in his remarks.
The “Gasing” math method used by the student is an innovative learning approach introduced by Professor Yohanes Surya. It aims to make mathematics easier to understand and more enjoyable for children.
Vice President Gibran’s visit to Manokwari also included a review of several educational and human resource development programs, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the foundation of education in eastern Indonesia.
