Jayapura – Ahead of the celebration of Christmas and New Year 2026, Commission XII of the People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, emphasized the importance of readiness for energy supply in the Papua region so that the needs of the community are still met safely and under control.

This matter was conveyed by the Chairman of Commission XII of the People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugeng Suparwoto, who also directly led the Working Visit Team of Commission XII of the People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia when inspecting a number of energy facilities in Jayapura City.

In the visit, Sugeng reminded Pertamina and the State Electricity Company (PLN) to ensure the availability of energy, both fuel oil (BBM) and electricity supply, remains stable throughout the Papua region.

“Ahead of Christmas and New Year, people’s energy needs have increased significantly. Therefore, we ask Pertamina and State Electricity Company to strengthen mitigation measures early so that there are no supply disruptions,” said Sugeng Suparwoto.

He emphasized that both State-Owned Enterprise in the energy sector must have a strong commitment to maintain operational reliability and work safety, especially in areas with geographical challenges such as Papua.

“Pertamina and State Electricity Company need to ensure that the distribution system runs safely, pay attention to the logistics supply chain, and prioritize safety in every service activity,” he added.

In addition to highlighting the energy supply, Commission XII of the People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia also reviewed the readiness of supporting infrastructure and accommodated various inputs from the community and local governments related to energy services in Papua.

Sugeng said, the supervision of energy supply in the eastern region of Indonesia is a special concern of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, considering that Papua is one of the areas with high public mobility during the momentum of Christmas and New Year.

His party hopes, with the coordination between the government, State-Owned Enterprise, and People’s Representative Council (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, energy services to the Papuan people can run smoothly, safely, and fairly.
